Government School Teacher Booked for Sexual Molestation of Minor Girls in Kupwara

A government school teacher has been booked for allegedly sexually molesting seven minor female students. The District Police Kupwara registered a case under the Juvenile Justice Act and POCSO Act after receiving a complaint from two residents of Dardpora.

According to the complaint, Showkat Ahmad Bhat, allegedly took the girls to a separate room within the school premises and committed acts of sexual molestation. Seven students disclosed the incidents to their parents, leading to the filing of the complaint, Police said in a statement.

An investigation has been initiated, and preliminary findings suggest Bhat may have committed aggravated sexual assault. Another individual, Sajad Ahmad Mir, has been detained as an alleged accomplice.

The District Police Kupwara is conducting a thorough and impartial investigation, ensuring compliance with legal procedures. Further information will be disclosed as the investigation proceeds. (KNS)
