Heartfelt Sacrifice: Captain Brijesh Thapa killed in Encounter at Doda J&K

In a tragic encounter with terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir’s Doda district, Captain Brijesh Thapa, a 27-year-old second-generation Army officer, made the ultimate sacrifice for his country. His mother, Nilima Thapa, tearfully expressed her grief, saying, “He will never come home.” Captain Thapa’s unwavering commitment to joining the Army, despite knowing its challenges, reflects his deep sense of duty.

Captain Thapa’s father, Colonel Bhuwanesh Thapa (retired), shared his pride in his son’s decision to serve. “He always wanted to be in the Army, right from his childhood,” Colonel Thapa said. Even after completing his engineering, Captain Thapa remained steadfast in his desire to protect the nation. Tragically, they won’t be able to meet again.

Yogesh Thapa, the young officer’s uncle, called for a strong response against the terrorists. “As a family, the loss we have suffered is impossible to cope with,” he said.

The encounter, which began after intelligence inputs, resulted in the deaths of Captain Thapa, Naik D Rajesh, and sepoys Bijendra and Ajay. The Indian Army expressed condolences and stands with the bereaved families during this difficult time.

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh reaffirmed the commitment to eliminate terrorism and restore peace. Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju extended heartfelt condolences to the families, emphasizing that the entire nation stands with them.
