Election Commission to Initiate Jammu and Kashmir Assembly Elections Soon

The Election Commission of India announced on Saturday its intention to “soon” commence the process for holding assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.Speaking to the Delhi-based news agency PTI, Chief Election Commissioner Rajiv Kumar emphasized the importance of the people of Jammu and Kashmir having their own government.
Addressing questions about voter turnout and the prospects for upcoming assembly elections, Kumar expressed enthusiasm over the high level of participation in the recent parliamentary polls.”It’s delightful to see. The youth and women are coming out in large numbers to vote, which is strengthening the foundations of democracy,” he said.
Kumar further stated, “The people of Jammu and Kashmir deserve their government, and we are very motivated to start this process soon.” (KNS)
