National level Conference PEDGASTROCON held by Department of Pediatrics GMC Srinagar

The Department of Pediatrics GMC Srinagar, hosted a highly informative national conference on gastroenterology, (PEDGASTROCON) bringing together leading experts from across the country to discuss the latest advancements, research, and best practices in pediatric gastroenterology . This highly informative conference was attended by Pediatricians ,  healthcare professionals, researchers, and students from different medical colleges eager to deepen their understanding of the complexities surrounding gastrointestinal health.

According to KNS The top notch experts and recognized leaders in the field of pediatric gastroenterology deliberated on diverse array of  topics ranging from cutting-edge research in gastrointestinal bleed , current trends In pediatric acute liver failure management,  advancements in endoscopic techniques and innovations in liver disease management.

Among the highlights was the keynote address by Dr. Prof. Ujal Poddar Professors and Head Pediatric Gastroenterologist SGPGI Lukhnow  on gastrointestinal bleeding. Dr. Ujal showcased innovative endoscopic techniques that enhance diagnostic accuracy and therapeutic interventions, significantly improving patients carefully. Dr Poddar  is a pioneer in the field of pediatric gastroenterology. Prof. Seema Alam Head Pediatric Hepatology ILBS New Delhi deliberate on modern  approach, how to work up cases of Chronic Liver Diseases in children.

Prof Anupam Sibal Medical Director Apolo group of hospitals and Head of Pediatric Gastroenterologist Apolo Delhi,  an eminent pediatric Gastroenterologist and Liver transplant expert  had a detailed talk on Neonatal cholestasis.
Among other speakers were Prof Abdus Sami and Dr Isaac Malik who talked about corrosive poisoning in children and management of Acute Liver Failure respectively.

The conference also provided ample networking opportunities, allowing attendees to connect with peers and establish collaborations that could lead to future research and clinical partnerships.

Prof Kaiser said that everything is possible, if faculty shows consistent dedication,  work with  will lower and  services like liver transplant will not be a distant dream.

Prof. Iffat Hassan Shah, Principal of Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, emphasized the significant strides being made in the field of pediatric Gastroenterology . She noted that the relocation of the Pediatric Surgery Department, along with the introduction of specialized subspecialties, marks the realization of a long-standing aspiration within the institution.The establishment of subspecialties is particularly crucial in addressing the diverse and complex  needs of pediatric patients, ensuring that they receive targeted and expert care.
