For Better Transport System Srinagar Wins SKOCH Award

SKOCH award

The smart city Srinagar Saturday was received the SKOCH Award of Excellence in Sustainable Transport System for its work on creating a better and greener transport network.

The award was presented on Saturday in Delhi and highlights Srinagar’s efforts to develop spaces where people can walk and cycle safely.

The Srinagar Smart City Limited (SSCL) led this work, which has focused on making the city friendly for pedestrians. The project aims to reduce the use of vehicles, create a clean environment, and boost tourism and the local economy.

Dr. Owais, CEO of SSCL, accepted the award and said, “We feel proud to be recognized for this. Our goal is to make Srinagar a city that offers world-class services and infrastructure for its people.”

In recent years, SSCL has worked on improving major roads, crossings, public spaces, markets, and areas near rivers. These efforts include making footpaths, cycle tracks, and other facilities that encourage walking and cycling. This has made it easier for locals and visitors to explore the city.
