Waheed Parra Criticizes J&K PSC 2023 Results, Calls for Merit-Based Reforms

MLA Pulwama, Waheed Parra, has raised concerns over the Jammu and Kashmir Public Service Commission (PSC) 2023 results of JKCCE pointing to what he described as a “disproportionate” representation of open merit candidates.

According to KNS correspondent in a post on X, Parra highlighted that only 40% of selections were made through open merit, despite over 70% of J&K’s population qualifying for this category.Parra criticized the current policy as “unjust” and urged the government to overhaul it.

“The government must scrap this unjust policy against merit and ensure reservations reflect true population proportions,” he stated, adding that such policies risk “compromising long-term quality and competence” across institutions in Jammu and Kashmir.

“J&K’s youth deserves inclusion, not exclusion,” Parra concluded, emphasizing the importance of fair opportunities for the region’s young population. (KNS).
