Sajad Lone Criticises Omar Abdullah’s Delhi Visit, Calls Push for Statehood a ‘Ploy to Gain Favour’

People’s Conference Chairman Sajad Lone criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah’s visit to New Delhi, where he is expected to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

In a post on “X”, Lone said, “This gentleman is desperate and bending over backward to meet the Lords in Delhi.”He further accused Omar of hypocrisy, recalling how he campaigned against those he now seeks to engage with.

Push for statehood is merely an excuse to gain favor from the central government, Lone’s Post on “X” added.

Notably, CM Omar Abdullah’s arrival in Delhi follows a cabinet meeting that passed a resolution for restoring statehood to Jammu and Kashmir, a long-standing demand since the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.(KNS)
