While three more residences of terrorists were damaged in blasts in the backdrop of the Pahalgam terror attack, the Police have so far detained around 175 for questioning to dismantle the support networks aiding terrorist activities.

Police in Anantnag in coordination with the Army, CRPF, and other security agencies, have launched extensive Cordon and Search Operations across the district, Police said. ìIn a series of raids, around 175 individuals have been detained for questioning as security agencies work to dismantle the support network enabling terrorist activities.î

Police said additional Mobile Vehicle Check Points (MVCPs) had been established at multiple locations to monitor movement and enhance public security.

It said that intensive patrolling, ambushes, and combing operations, particularly in high-density forest belts, were also underway to flush out any terrorist presence.

Police are working around the clock to trace the terrorists involved in the killing of 26 persons in Baisaran meadows on April 22.

A Special Investigation Team (SIT) headed by Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anantnag had been formed after the registration of FIR No 25/2025 at Police Station Pahalgam.

ìWe have so far questioned more than 150 people, including some ponywallas who were present in or around Baisaran that afternoon, senior Police officials said. ìWe are collecting digital evidence and drone imagery ñ is being secured for forensic analysis. No one is under arrest at this stage, but several persons are being examined.î

Meanwhile, in the wake of the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, security forces in south Kashmir intensified their crackdown on terror infrastructure.

As part of the ongoing operations, the residences of five active Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) operatives across Shopian, Kulgam, and Pulwama districts so far were damaged during controlled blasts after Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) were found installed within the properties.

ìWhile carrying out thorough searches, we discovered IEDs fitted inside the homes of certain terrorists. With the assistance of Bomb Disposal Squads (BDS), we successfully defused these devices, although the process resulted in substantial damage to the structures,î Police said.

The damaged property in Chotipora village of Shopian belonged to LeT operative Shahid Ahmed Kutte.

Active for nearly four years, Kutte is accused of coordinating several anti-national activities in Kashmir.

In Kulgamís Matalam area, Zahid Ahmedís house was damaged during operations.

Zahid has been on security forces radar for his ongoing terror involvement.

The house of Ahsan-ul-Haq in Murran, Pulwama, was destroyed following the discovery of explosives.

According to the Police, Haq had undergone terror training in Pakistan in 2018 and recently infiltrated back into Kashmir.

The home belonging to Ehsan Ahmad Sheikh, active since June 2023, was heavily damaged during the operation after an IED was found inside the house during the operation.

The residence of Haris Ahmad, who joined the LeT ranks in 2023, was also damaged in the Kachipora area of Pulwama.

During a search operation at the house of Farooq Teedwa, a terrorist in Narikoot Kalaroos in Kupwara district in north Kashmir, the structure was damaged in the blast.

Police said that the blast occurred while defusing an IED during searches, resulting in damage to the house.

These incidents come just a day after damage to the houses of two more LeT terrorists, Adil Hussain Thoker and Asif Sheikh, where explosives were similarly found and neutralised.

Earlier, Police in Anantnag released sketches of three wanted terrorists that include Hashim Musa alias Suleman (Pakistani national), Ali Bhai alias Talha Bhai (Pakistani national), and Adil Hussain Thoker (local operative).

The Police announced a reward of Rs 20 lakh for any actionable information leading to their arrests.

Security forces have urged the people to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity, reiterating their commitment to maintaining peace and dismantling the terror ecosystem that threatens normalcy in Kashmir.”
