Influencer Angel Rai Files Police Complaint Over Death Threats on Social Media

Mumbai-based social media influencer and actress Angel Rai has lodged a police complaint after receiving death threats via email and Instagram. The 22-year-old, who boasts over 25 million followers, approached the Bangur Nagar police station seeking action against the unidentified individuals behind the threats. Authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation.

According to the FIR registered on March 22, Angel Rai, a resident of Goregaon West, received an email on March 16 from an unidentified sender containing obscene messages and a death threat. The chilling threats included warnings of being burned alive and dismembered.

The FIR further revealed that Rai had been receiving similar disturbing messages for months. Between August 2023 and March 2024, she was subjected to repeated obscene and threatening messages across email, Instagram, and other social media platforms.

Speaking to the media, Rai shared her ordeal, stating, “I have been receiving obscene messages for several days. Eventually, I got fed up and decided to file a complaint with the police. Especially after the trailer release of my new web series ‘Ghotala,’ the accused sent me death threats. Initially, I received messages on Instagram, and I blocked the accounts, but the accused continued to send messages from various accounts. I endured it for the last two years, but now I am fed up.”

Authorities have launched an investigation to identify the sender.Rai, known for her appearances in numerous music videos, is set to launch her web series Ghotala on her YouTube channel soon.
