Ayesha Aziz, a 25-year-old woman from Kashmir, has become an inspiration for many women in her community. She is the youngest female pilot in India. Her journey to becoming a pilot started at a young age, and her success is a symbol of empowerment for Kashmiri women.
In 2011, at the age of just 15, Ayesha became the youngest student pilot to get a flying license. A year later, she went to Russia’s Sokol airbase, where she trained to fly a MiG-29 jet, an advanced military aircraft. She continued to work hard and later graduated in aviation from the Bombay Flying Club (BFC). In 2017, Ayesha obtained her commercial pilot license.
Speaking to ANI (Asian News International), Ayesha shared her thoughts on how Kashmiri women have made great progress, especially in education. She said, “I think Kashmiri women are doing very well, especially in education. Every other woman in Kashmir is doing her Masters or her doctorate. People of the Valley are doing great.”
Ayesha believes that education is a key factor in the success of Kashmiri women. Over the years, many women in Kashmir have worked hard to improve their lives, and Ayesha is proud of how far they have come.
Despite her busy and challenging career as a pilot, Ayesha is passionate about her work. She said that she has always loved traveling and was fascinated by flying from a young age. “One gets to meet so many people. This is why I wanted to be a pilot,” she explained.
Her job is not like a regular 9-to-5 office job. It involves irregular hours, and she has to face many challenges, including different weather conditions, new places, and meeting different people. However, Ayesha enjoys the excitement and the constant learning that comes with her job.
Ayesha also expressed her gratitude to her parents for their continuous support throughout her journey. She said, “I am very lucky that I have parents who have supported me in everything. Without them, I would not have been able to get to where I am today.”
Her father is her biggest role model, and Ayesha looks up to him for inspiration. “My father is my greatest role model,” she added. She said that she is always looking for ways to grow both professionally and personally.
Being a pilot is not easy, and Ayesha knows that it comes with great responsibility. “In this profession, one’s mental state should be very strong because you’ll be carrying 200 passengers, and it is a great responsibility,” she said.
Ayesha Aziz is a shining example of how hard work, determination, and the support of family can help a person achieve their dreams. She has shown that women from Kashmir can excel in any field, including aviation, and she continues to inspire the next generation of women in the region.
Her story is a reminder to all that there are no limits to what women can achieve, and they should follow their dreams, no matter how big they may seem.
