Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association Kashmir Elects New Office Bearers for 3-year Term as Per Constitution

The Central Government Pensioners Welfare Association Kashmir (CGPWA:K) held its due elections today, which was necessary as per its constitution and also after the demise of its Founder President, MS Pandit. The General Body meeting at the AS Club witnessed a smooth transition of leadership.

Election Commissioner Ghulam Mohidin Bhat and Altaf Hussain declared the results in the presence of all the members, who greeted the new team with huge applause. Former Red Cross Secretary Kifayat Rizvi, IAS (Retd.), and former ADG Doordarshan Dr. Rafeeq Masoodi, IBS (Retd.), were declared elected as President and Vice President, respectively.

Former Postmaster GM Wani Dilshad and former DIG Shaukat Malik were elected as General Secretary and Treasurer, respectively, while Ghulam Mohiuddin Bhat, former Program Officer of Doordarshan, was elected as Secretary. The new body will have a 3-year term as per the constitution.

The elected President took over the charge immediately, signaling the start of a new chapter for the organization’s efforts in championing the welfare of central government pensioners in the region.
