Bakshi Stadium Srinagar: Toyam Hyderabad Secure Spot in Qualifier 2 with Dominant Win Over India Capitals in Eliminator

Toyam Hyderabad delivered a commanding performance with both bat and ball, securing a 7-wicket victory over India Capitals in the Eliminator match held at Bakshi Stadium, Srinagar, on Sunday. This win cemented Toyam Hyderabad’s place in Qualifier 2 of the tournament.

India Capitals, after losing the toss, were sent in to bat first. Their opening pair, Dwayne Smith and Dhruv Jatinbhai Raval, struggled to build momentum. Smith managed just 3 runs from 4 balls, while Raval added a modest 18 from 13 balls. The highlight of India Capitals’ innings came from Collin de Grandhomme, who top-scored with a quickfire 36 off 19 balls. Ben Dunk contributed 9 runs from 14 deliveries, but the team failed to post a competitive total, collapsing to 88 all out in just 14.4 overs.

Toyam Hyderabad’s bowlers dominated the game from the start. Ravi Jangid was particularly impressive, claiming 3 wickets for just 14 runs. Shivakant Shukla also picked up 3 wickets, conceding only 13 runs. Skipper Gurkeerat Singh Mann bowled brilliantly as well, taking 2 wickets for 11 runs in his 3 overs. Nuwan Pradeep (1/20) and Monty Panesar (1/7) chipped in with one wicket each, ensuring India Capitals never found their rhythm.

Chasing a target of 89, Toyam Hyderabad’s openers, Chadwick Walton and George Worker, took to the crease. Walton, however, could only score 5 from 13 balls before losing his wicket. Worker, along with Peter Trego, steadied the innings by adding 24 runs for the second wicket. Worker played a solid knock of 27 from 21 balls, while Trego contributed 19 off just 10 balls. Towards the end, captain Gurkeerat Singh Mann took charge, scoring an unbeaten 22* from 13 balls, guiding Toyam Hyderabad to victory in 11.3 overs.

India Capitals’ bowling attack put up a fight, with Iqbal Abdulla (1/34), Avinash Bhailal Yadav (1/15), and Ashley Nurse (1/15) each taking a wicket, but they were unable to defend the low total.

With this victory, Toyam Hyderabad advanced to the next stage, keeping their championship hopes alive.
