Former Jamat-e-Islami Spokesperson Advocate Zahid Ali Surrenders to Jammu and Kashmir Police

On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir Police reported that Ali Mohd Lone, former spokesperson for Jamat-e-Islami, surrendered in Srinagar. He’s accused of various crimes including inciting anti-national sentiments and attempting a jailbreak. Lone, also known as Advocate Zahid Ali, was apprehended in connection with Case FIR No. 19/2019. The charges against him include offenses under sections 13 UAP Act and 147, 148, 149, 336, 332, 427, 307, 435, 436, 120, 225 RPC of Police Station Rainawari. He surrendered at the concerned Police Station and was arrested on May 16, 2024. Police spokesperson revealed that Lone was implicated in a plot involving arson, rioting, attempting to break out of jail, chanting anti-national slogans, and engaging in stone pelting at Srinagar Central Jail in 2019. It’s noted that Lone previously served as the spokesperson for the banned group Jamat-e-Islami.
