Udhampur Police Arrest Man with 25 Grams of Heroin, Intensify Fight Against Drug Menace

Udhampur, Jammu and Kashmir – In a significant drug bust, the Udhampur District Police have arrested a man in possession of 25 grams of heroin, according to an official statement. The accused, who hails from Maralian in Jammu, was allegedly transporting the heroin for sale in Udhampur.

Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Udhampur, Joginder Singh, provided details of the arrest, stating, “Udhampur Police arrested a person with 25 grammes of Chitta (heroin). Based on a tip-off about the accused, a team was formed and the accused was apprehended.” The arrest followed an intensive investigation prompted by a credible tip-off regarding the suspect’s activities.

The accused is currently in police custody and undergoing interrogation. “The police are also investigating his backward and forward links,” Singh added, indicating that the investigation aims to uncover the broader network involved in the drug trade. The SSP assured that any further information that emerges from the interrogation will be shared with the public.

Expressing concern over the impact of drug trafficking on the youth, Singh emphasized, “We are concerned about this incident, as 25 grammes of heroin could have affected many young people.” He highlighted the potential harm that such a quantity of heroin could inflict on the community, particularly the younger generation.

The SSP reiterated the commitment of the Udhampur Police to combating the drug menace through a multi-faceted approach, involving strict legal measures, awareness campaigns, and active public participation. “We are determined to fight against this drug menace, as the future belongs to our youth.
