Jammu and Kashmir Police Nab Drug Traffickers in Handwara Bust

Two individuals were apprehended by the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Handwara for their involvement in drug trafficking. Acting on a tip-off, a police team from the Magam Police post, led by IC PP Magam under the supervision of SDPO Handwara and SHO Handwara, intercepted a Tata Sumo vehicle bearing registration number JK09 4301 at Khanpora Crossing. The driver, identified as Irshad Ahmad Lone, and his passenger, revealed as Shabir Ahmad Marazi, attempted to evade the police but were skillfully apprehended.

Upon inspection of the vehicle, approximately 106 grams of a substance resembling charas was discovered in their possession. The vehicle used in the illicit activity was confiscated. A case under FIR No. 68/24, under Sections 8/20 of the NDPS Act, has been registered at PS Handwara, and a thorough investigation has been initiated.

The police urge community members to collaborate by providing any information regarding drug peddlers in their vicinity. Those found participating in such unlawful activities will face legal consequences. The relentless efforts of law enforcement against drug peddlers are aimed at ensuring a drug-free society, instilling confidence among community members.
