IGP Kashmir Chairs Security Review Meeting to Bolster Measures Across the Kashmir Valley

Srinagar, January 08: The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir VK Birdi-IPS conducted a comprehensive security review meeting at PCR Kashmir today to assess and enhance security measures across the valley.

The meeting witnessed the attendance of several high-ranking officials, including DD IB Shri Nitin Tiwari-IPS, DIG CKR Srinagar Sujit Kumar-IPS, DIG SSB Srinagar Imtiyaz Ismail Parray, DIG IR Kashmir Abdul Qayoom, SSP Srinagar Ashish Mishra-IPS, SSP PCR Shoket Hussain Shah, SSP Traffic City Srinagar Muzaffar Ahmad Shah, SSP Security Kashmir Sheikh Faisal, and SP PC Srinagar Iftikhar Talib. DIG NKR Shri Vivek Gupta-IPS & DIG SKR Rayees Mohammad Bhat-IPS, along with district SSPs/PDs, attended the meeting virtually. Representatives from Army, BSF, CRPF, CISF, and SB were also present.

During the meeting, the participating officers briefed IGP Kashmir on the overall security scenario and the measures being implemented to address challenges. Discussions covered intelligence gathering, threat assessments, emergency response protocols for VIP visits, and upcoming events such as Republic Day functions.

IGP Kashmir actively engaged with the officers, discussing initiatives for maintaining law and order and anti-terrorist operations within the valley. Stressing the importance of continuous efforts and coordination among different forces, he urged for strengthening collaboration for seamless information sharing and joint operations. Additionally, he emphasized exploring innovative technologies to enhance security infrastructure and response capabilities. The officers were directed to intensify anti-terrorist operations and take strict action against individuals or organizations supporting anti-national activities. Enhanced joint patrolling, especially during night hours, was highlighted as a preventive measure against terrorist movement.

During the meeting, IGP Kashmir underscored the significance of precision and coordination, outlining strategic measures to address potential challenges and uphold the highest standards of security.

VK Birdi expressed confidence in the preparedness of the security forces, assuring the public of their commitment to ensuring a safe and secure environment. He stressed the importance of community support in maintaining peace and security in the valley.
