Sopore Police Seize Illicit Timber and Vehicle, Register FIR for Illegal Extraction

Police in Sopore have successfully recovered a consignment of illicit timber and seized a vehicle (tractor) within the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore. Acting on specific intelligence, a police team from Police Post Warpora, along with the Forest Department, established a checkpoint at Janwara and intercepted a vehicle bearing registration No. JK05D-3984. Illicit willow timber cut from Forest Compartment No. 14, Janwara Nambal, was recovered from the vehicle.

A case vide FIR No. 05/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore, and further investigation is underway. Police urge the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the fight against crime by sharing any information related to unlawful activities through the nearest police station or by calling 112.
