Billa Emerges as 'Champion of Champions

The fifth J-K ArmWrestling State Championship took place at the Sher-e-Kashmir indoor stadium in Srinagar on January 10 and 11, with 400 athletes from across Kashmir participating in the grand event. Conducted by the Jammu and Kashmir ArmWrestling Association under the auspices of People’s ArmWrestling Federation India, the competition saw intense action in 40 categories.

The highlight of the championship was Billa, who emerged as the ‘Champion of Champions’ by dominating both the youth and senior right-hand categories. Parvinn Dabass, Co-founder of Pro Panja League, expressed his delight with Billa’s performance, announcing that Billa will participate in a Pro Panja League Mega Match soon.

The event also saw top two athletes from each weight category qualifying for the nationals. Notably, 30 female athletes participated, showcasing the growing support for ArmWrestling in the region. The event was graced by President of People’s Armwrestling Federation of India, Preeti Jhangiani, along with other dignitaries.

Preeti Jhangiani praised the turnout and emphasized the importance of sports in steering youth away from vices. She also highlighted the potential for ArmWrestling in Kashmir and indicated the possibility of future events in the state.Parvinn Dabass echoed this enthusiasm, announcing plans for a major Pro Panja League event in Srinagar soon.
