Despite Improvement in Night Temperature Kashmir Valley Remains in the Grip of Cold Wave
The cold wave continues to tighten its hold over the Kashmir Valley, with no significant change expected in weather conditions until December 26, according to the Meteorological Department in Srinagar.
The latest data from the Indian Meteorological Department indicates that Srinagar recorded a minimum temperature of -4.5°C on Wednesday. This marks a slight improvement compared to the previous night, which was even colder.
Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination, experienced a low of -5.8°C today. Although still bitterly cold, this temperature shows a marginal rise from earlier readings.
In contrast, Kokernag recorded a significant drop, with temperatures plummeting to -2.8°C, highlighting the varying intensity of the cold across the region.
Looking ahead, the Meteorological Centre in Srinagar has forecasted a prolonged cold wave over the plains of Jammu and Kashmir from December 18 to December 22. Residents are advised to prepare for continued harsh weather conditions as the valley remains enveloped in freezing temperatures.
