The unauthorized absence of a medical officer at the Community Health Centre (CHC) Trauma Hospital in Pattan has raised concerns among locals, who allege that the doctor is engaged in private practice during official duty hours.

Locals told the Kashmir News Service (KNS), that Dr. Shafiq, the officer in charge of the Non-Communicable Disease (NCD) lab at CHC Pattan, is frequently absent from his duties.

They claim that his absence disrupts essential medical services, leaving patients waiting for long periods without assistance.Some have further alleged that the doctor uses official hours for private practice, which they say is a violation of his professional responsibilities.

Meanwhile, Block Medical Officer (BMO) Pattan, Dr. Tuha Khan, confirmed that an explanation has been sought from Dr. Shafiq.Dr. Khan assured that an investigation into the matter would be carried out.Locals have called for strict action against the doctor to ensure accountability and improve healthcare services at the center.(KNS).
