Er Rashid Calls for Social Boycott of Drug Peddlers

Member of Parliament, Er Rashid, has called upon the youth of Karnah to take a strong stand against drug abuse by enforcing the social boycott of drug peddlers. During his two-day visit to Karnah, Er Rashid addressed several key local issues while taking the opportunity to raise awareness about the dangers of drug abuse and its devastating impact on the community.

At a public meeting in Teetwal, he urged young people to not only abstain from drugs but also actively ensure that those involved in drug peddling face social exclusion. He stressed that such a collective effort is crucial to safeguarding the future of the region’s youth and fostering a healthier, drug-free environment.

In addition to his strong message on drug abuse, Er Rashid’s visit focused on development issues. In Gundgujran, he secured commitments from senior officials to begin immediate restoration work on a road damaged by erosion. In Hajam Mohalla Teetwal, he directed Public Health Engineering (PHE) officials to resolve the area’s drinking water problems within a month by supplying the necessary pipes.

Er Rashid’s development initiatives continued at Semari, a village near the Line of Control (LoC), where he pledged to establish a food store and promised that work on the village road would start soon. He also met with residents of Kadhama, who had boycotted the Parliamentary election due to the lack of basic facilities. He assured them that work on road construction would commence shortly.

In the education sector, Er Rashid visited Higher Secondary School Tanghdar, where he sanctioned ₹3 lakh for smart class boards and pledged to complete pending building work by March. At New Light Model Public School Cheterkote, he sanctioned two computers and commended the school chairman for his commitment to quality education. He also visited Government Higher Secondary School Kandi, where he allocated ₹2 lakh for smart class boards.

Additionally, Er Rashid visited the under-construction 12MW power project, urging the authorities to prioritise local skilled and unskilled labour for employment. He also sanctioned a vehicle for Government Degree College Tanghdar and expressed ongoing support for education in the region, including a visit to Darul Uloom, where he reaffirmed his commitment to educational development.

Er Rashid’s visit to Karnah highlighted his dedication to addressing both social and developmental challenges, with a particular focus on tackling the growing menace of drug abuse through community unity and proactive measures.
