Road Clearance Operation Led by Deputy Commissioner and Senior Superintendent Amidst Harsh Weather

Today, Deputy Commissioner Ramban, Baseer–Ul-Haq Chaudhary, alongside Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, National Highway, Rohit Baskotra, spearheaded an inspection and road clearance operation on NH-44 amidst relentless rain and snowfall.

The downpour and snowfall triggered significant landslides, obstructing the 270-km long highway from Nashri to Banihal, the crucial all-weather road linking Kashmir to the rest of the nation.

Personally overseeing the road clearance operations at various points, the Deputy Commissioner directed the executing agencies to ensure the roads are maintained for the safe and smooth passage of commuters. He emphasized that stranded vehicles on NH-44 are being given priority clearance.

Highlighting progress, he mentioned that all priority-I link roads are now open for traffic, while restoration work on priority-II link roads is underway at full throttle to ensure uninterrupted connectivity.

Emphasizing public safety as paramount, the Deputy Commissioner called for the public’s cooperation in the ongoing restoration efforts, particularly in restoring essential services like water and power supply for public convenience.
