The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) won a key election in Gujarat’s Visavadar, beating the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). AAP’s Gopal Italia got over 76,000 votes, while BJP’s Kirit Patel got about 58,400. The Congress candidate, Nitin Ranpariya, came third with just 5,500 votes. This election happened because AAP’s old MP, Bhupendra Bhayani, quit and joined BJP in December 2022. AAP’s win is a big news for them, showing they’re getting stronger in Gujarat before the 2027 elections.
In Kerala, the Congress party won the Nilambur seat. Their candidate, Aryadan Shoukath, beat CPI(M)’s M Swaraj by over 11,000 votes, getting 77,737 votes to 66,660. This election was held because MLA P.V. Anvar left his post. The win helps Congress look strong for Kerala’s 2026 elections.
Also, AAP kept the Ludhiana West seat in Punjab, with Sanjeev Arora beating Congress’s Bharat Bhushan Ashu by 10,637 votes. BJP held onto Gujarat’s Kadi seat, and West Bengal’s Trinamool Congress won Kaliganj.
