J&K Government Accepts Safeena Baig’s Resignation as Haj Committee Chairperson

The Jammu and Kashmir Government has formally accepted the resignation of Safeena Baig from the post of Chairperson of the Union Territory Haj Committee, effective from August 24, 2024.
An official order issued by the administration confirmed that the resignation has been accepted under Section 24 of the Haj Committee Act, 2002. The order, signed by the Secretary to the Government, marks the official conclusion of Baig’s tenure, several months after her resignation was initially submitted.
Safeena Baig, a well-known political figure in Jammu and Kashmir, held the post with responsibility for overseeing Haj pilgrim coordination, welfare measures, and administrative functioning related to Haj operations in the Union Territory.
During her term, she was involved in streamlining the arrangements and facilitating services for pilgrims, playing a key role in bridging administrative processes with community needs.The government is expected to announce a new appointment to the post in due course.
