ACB Raids Properties Linked to Former DMO Kathua Bodh Raj in Corruption Case

The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Sunday carried out multiple searches at properties linked to the former District Mineral Officer (DMO) of Kathua, Bodh Raj, as part of an ongoing investigation into corruption and possession of benami assets.
According to an official spokesperson, a secret verification by the ACB revealed that Bodh Raj, son of Chuni Lal and resident of Nater Kothian, Muthi, Jammu, allegedly acquired assets worth crores of rupees through corrupt practices while serving as DMO Kathua. These assets were found to be in the names of his family members and close associates, far exceeding his known sources of income.
Based on the findings, the ACB registered a case under FIR No. 08/2024 on August 24, 2024, at Police Station ACB Central, Jammu. The case has been filed under Section 13(1)(b) read with Section 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
The spokesperson stated that during the investigation, several pieces of evidence were found, including financial transactions involving large sums—running into lakhs of rupees—in the accounts of Bodh Raj’s close relatives and friends. It is suspected that they helped him in hiding and investing illicit money.
To prevent the concealment or destruction of vital documents, the ACB sought and obtained search warrants from the competent court. Subsequently, raids were conducted at various locations in Jammu and Kathua, specifically targeting properties owned or associated with Bodh Raj’s relatives and acquaintances.
The searches aim to gather additional evidence and uncover the full extent of the benami assets and financial irregularities. The ACB has reiterated its commitment to rooting out corruption and holding public servants accountable for any abuse of power.Investigations are ongoing, and more details are expected as the case progresses.
