The news of her daughter’s success overwhelmed Rehana with emotion, marking a triumphant moment in their journey of resilience. Anam, currently in the final semester of her M.Ed at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), was honored by the university’s Department of Education and Training in a special ceremony. The event, held two days after the announcement, saw faculty members, students, and officials gathering to celebrate her outstanding achievement.
During the felicitation, faculty members lauded Anam’s dedication and perseverance, highlighting her as an inspiration for future researchers. Prof. Shaheen A. Shaik, Head of the Department, praised her efforts, stating, “Anam’s success reflects the academic excellence and research culture at MANUU. Her journey will motivate many aspiring scholars.” Alongside Anam, other successful UGC-NET and JRF qualifiers were also honored, with the department recognizing their collective achievement as a testament to the university’s academic strength and faculty mentorship.
Anam’s journey has been anything but easy. Her mother, Rehana, was left to raise her alone after a divorce when Anam was just eight years old. Despite earning a modest ₹800 per month as a private school teacher, Rehana ensured her daughter received a quality education, enrolling her in a CBSE-affiliated school.
Through years of hardship, Anam found support only from her paternal uncle, with little assistance from others. Determined to succeed, she pursued her B.Ed at MANUU’s Centre for Teachers’ Education in Darbhanga before advancing to an M.Ed at the university’s Hyderabad campus.
Meanwhile, Anam got married to Johar Ali, a technocrat working in a private firm in Hyderabad. The couple resides in the Lingampally area near the MANUU campus. She credits both her mother and husband for encouraging her to continue her academic journey. “My mother has always been my strongest pillar, and now my husband supports my dream of pursuing a PhD,” she shared.
As a research fellow, Anam is set to receive a monthly stipend of approximately ₹45,000. She expressed deep gratitude to her mother, professors, mentors, and family, acknowledging the university’s academic environment and faculty guidance as crucial elements in her success.
Anam Zafar’s story is a testament to resilience, determination, and the power of unwavering support. Her achievement not only brings pride to her family but also serves as an inspiration for students striving to overcome challenges and reach new academic heights.
