In a significant move to curb terrorism, the Kishtwar Police, following the directives of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) court in Doda, have attached the properties of 11 terrorists operating from Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). This action, executed on Friday, marks a crucial step in the ongoing efforts to dismantle the terror infrastructure in the region.
Background and Investigation
The attachment of properties comes after an in-depth investigation into case FIR No. 272 of 2022, registered under sections 120-B, 121-A IPC, and 13, 18, 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) at Police Station Kishtwar. Earlier, around 36 Kishtwar-based terrorists operating from PoK were declared absconders by the NIA Court. The properties of 11 of these terrorists, measuring 52 Kanals and 8.875 Marlas, were identified and attached as per legal provisions. The attachment orders were issued by Additional District and Sessions Judge Sudesh Sharma, Special Judge, NIA Court, Doda, under Section 83 CrPC.

Acting on the court’s directions, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kishtwar, Javaid Iqbal Mir, formed special teams comprising senior police officers and Executive Magistrates to ensure the execution of the court orders. The attached properties have been marked with signboards, notifying the public of their attachment.
Further Actions and Statements
Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) Jammu, Anand Jain, revealed that properties of 18 additional absconding terrorists have been identified, and the process for their attachment is underway. This move aims to further tighten the noose on terror operatives, leaving no room for anti-national activities.
ADGP Jain emphasized that such actions are part of a larger strategy to disrupt the terror infrastructure and ensure that no asset is misused to fund or support anti-national activities. He issued a stern warning to anti-national elements, overground workers, and sleeper cells to shun their activities and return to the mainstream. He cautioned that anyone aiding or abetting terrorism will face the full force of the law.
Community Involvement
The authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement agencies by reporting any suspicious activity. The proactive approach of the police and the involvement of the community are seen as crucial elements in the fight against terrorism.
Conclusion
The attachment of properties of 11 terrorists operating from across the border in Kishtwar is a significant step in the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism in the region. The coordinated efforts of the police, legal authorities, and the community highlight the commitment to ensuring peace and security in Jammu and Kashmir. As the process continues, it sends a strong message to terror operatives that their actions will not go unpunished, and the rule of law will prevail.
