SKIMS Soura Establishes Engineering Control Room to Ensure Uninterrupted Essential Services During Emergencies
SKIMS Soura (Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences) has established a unique engineering control room to ensure uninterrupted essential services during any eventuality.
Director SKIMS, Dr. Mohd Ashraf Ganaie, said that the Engineering Division has been taken over by the R&B Department and an engineering control room has been established to ensure the prompt restoration of essential services at the hospital.
“The engineering is a very important part of the hospital and the control room has been set up to ensure uninterrupted services in the hospital,” he said.
SKIMS already had a patient control room but this one has been created to coordinate with various services and will play a vital role in ensuring smooth services.
The director stated that the new model performed effectively during the recent snowfall in the valley, when no breakdowns were reported during the inclement weather.
“It helped in restoration of all services electricity, road clearance, rectification of heating systems, and functioning of UPS backup and IT services in a timely manner which is good for patients,” he said.
The director said the unique facility will further help in improving preparedness to tackle other kinds of weather calamity or any disaster.
Notably, the control room system worked in close coordination with the existing hospital control rooms at SKIMS Soura and SKIMS MC&H, Bemina.
The facility, established under the supervision and direction of the Director SKIMS, includes a dedicated Engineering Control Room to ensure uninterrupted services.(Agencies)
