Will Restore Autonomy of Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS): CM Omar Abdullah

Omar Abdullah

: Former Chief Minister Omar Abdullah Wednesday vowed to restore the autonomy of the Sher-i-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences (SKIMS), a premier healthcare institution in Jammu and Kashmir.

Speaking to reporters, Omar said that there is need to free SKIMS from unnecessary administrative interference and ensure it functions as an autonomous body dedicated to excellence in healthcare and research.

“SKIMS was envisioned as an independent institution, but over time, its autonomy has been undermined. My government will ensure that it regains its rightful status,” he said, emphasizing the institute’s critical role in delivering specialized healthcare services in the region.
