WEDC at IUST Hosts Programme on Meta-Literacy in the Digital World for Students and Entrepreneurs
The Women Entrepreneurship Development Cell (WEDC), under the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development (CIED) at the Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), recently organised an insightful programme titled Meta-Literacy in the Digital World. The event aimed to educate students and aspiring entrepreneurs about the ever-evolving nature of media and the importance of continuous learning in today’s digital age.
The programme featured an impressive lineup of distinguished speakers, including Dr. C.K. Bhardwaj, Founder of SEED (Society for Systematic Education for Everybody’s Development) and COAIM, alongside Mr. Gyanam Suvigyanam; Dr. Shiv Satchit, Founder of the Global Media Network; and Mr. Arif Khanyari, Founder of ESOS Global. These experts shared their knowledge and experiences, offering attendees a deeper understanding of media literacy and its application in the modern world.
Dr. C.K. Bhardwaj opened the session by discussing the core concepts of Meta-Literacy and metaphysics. He emphasised that media should serve as a tool to promote selflessness and humanity’s welfare. Dr. Bhardwaj praised IUST for creating platforms that encourage critical thinking and values-based education, stressing the need for students and entrepreneurs to engage with media in a meaningful and responsible way.
Dr. Shiv Satchit highlighted the transformative journey of media over the years, exploring its dynamic role in shaping societies. He discussed how the media landscape continues to evolve, urging participants to stay informed and adaptable to changes in digital technologies and communication methods.
Mr. Arif Khanyari contributed by addressing the practical implications of media literacy for budding entrepreneurs. He explained how understanding media’s power and limitations can help entrepreneurs make ethical and effective decisions in their professional journeys.
Prof. Parvez A. Mir, Director of CIED, lauded the relevance of such programmes in today’s rapidly changing digital environment. He remarked that in an era dominated by digital platforms and technology, entrepreneurs must not only understand the tools at their disposal but also use them ethically for the betterment of society. Prof. Mir highlighted how initiatives like these align with IUST’s mission to nurture socially responsible innovators.
The session concluded with an interactive Q&A, where participants engaged with the speakers, gaining valuable insights into the responsible use of media and the importance of lifelong learning in the digital domain.
