Police Solve Dr Azhar Hassan Janwari Case He Was Hited By a Motorcycle in North Kashmir’s Sopore Accused Arrested

Sopore police Thursday said, they solved a hit and run case of a doctor who was killed in a road accident two weeks ago.

Police official said, on 5th of November 2024 Police Station Sopore received report about an unknown motorcyclist hitting and injuring one pedestrian Dr.Azhar Hassan Janwari, from Upper Ashpeer, Sopore during evening hours. An FIR (No. 233/2024) was registered in this matter, and the investigation began. The victim was initially treated at SDH Sopore and later referred to SKIMS Soura for advanced treatment where he succumbed to his injuries on 18th of November 2024, official said.

He said, after extensive efforts, including technical means, one Nadeem Hameed Badam also from Upper Ashpeer, Sopore was identified as the accused.

He has confessed to hitting the victim while riding his scooty bearing no. (JK05H-4292) recklessly. Fearing consequences, he fled the scene and did not report the incident to authorities, an official said.

The accused has been arrested, and the vehicle has been seized. Section 106(2) was added to the victim’s death and further investigation is on, official said.
