SPO Among 3 Drug Peddlers Arrested in Handwara: Police

Handwara Police claimed to have apprehended three individuals, including a Special Police Officer (SPO), for drug peddling.

According to Police the arrests were made at a checkpoint set up by a team led by SHO Kralgund at Ananwan Crossing, Kralgund.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Irshad Ahmad Gazi, Sajad Ahmad Rather both residents of Kralpora Kralgund; and Syed Anwar Geelani, an SPO currently posted in Kupwara, from Tangwari Kunnel. During a personal search, police recovered 105 grams of a Charas-like contraband substance from their possession. The trio was taken into custody on the spot.

An FIR, numbered 67/2024, has been filed under relevant legal sections at Police Station Kralgund, and further investigations are underway.

Police have urged community members to support efforts against drug peddling by sharing any related information.
