Mirwaiz e Kashmir Again Placed Under House Arrest on Friday – Worshippers Left Disappointed

The Anjuman Auqaf Jama Masjid lamented today that once again, their president and Mirwaiz e Kashmir, Mohammad Umar Farooq, has been subjected to house arrest by authorities. This morning, he was barred from addressing the faithful at Jama Masjid Srinagar and deprived of the opportunity to offer Friday prayers.
Expressing profound disappointment, the Anjuman conveyed its dismay at the recurrent confinement of Mirwaiz, particularly on such significant occasions as Fridays, when throngs of worshippers gather at the venerable Jama Masjid Srinagar, eager to receive his spiritually enriching sermon. The sight of the vacant pulpit leaves them saddened and disheartened.
In a statement issued, the Anjuman implored the authorities to refrain from repeatedly and arbitrarily detaining the Mirwaiz, underscoring the distress it causes to the Muslim community.
