“In a decisive move against drug peddlers, the police have taken stringent action to root out the scourge of drugs from our society. One such significant step was the apprehension of Nargis Akhter, a notorious drug smuggler, under the PIT NDPS Act in Baramulla. Following formal detention orders from the competent authority, Akhter, wife of Showkat Ahmad Sheikh and a resident of Shahwalayat Colony, Umerabad Srinagar, was swiftly booked and subsequently placed in Central Jail Kot-Balwal, Jammu.
Akhter’s history reveals a troubling pattern of criminal activity, with multiple cases registered against her. She has been actively involved in promoting the trade of drug abuse, particularly by supplying drugs to the vulnerable youth in areas such as Pattan, Tangmarg Nowpora, Wagoora, Kreeri, and others within the district. Despite facing legal action in the past, she continued her nefarious activities, unabated.
