In its ongoing election campaign and public outreach program, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) organized public meetings in the Charar-e-Sharief and Shopian constituencies on Wednesday. The events saw the participation of the party’s Youth President and candidate for Pulwama and Srinagar constituency, Waheed ur Rehman Parra, who addressed the gatherings.
In Charar-e-Sharief, Parra was warmly welcomed by the party’s General Secretary, Ghulam Nabi Lone Hanjoora, and senior leader Mohd Yasin Bhat. Hanjoora, addressing the workers, highlighted the challenges faced by Parra over the years, emphasizing his democratic mandate despite hurdles. He urged party members to bolster grassroots support and disseminate the party president Mehbooba Mufti’s vision to the public. Hanjoora stressed that if elected, the PDP would advocate for the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in the parliament.
Addressing the audience in Charar-e-Sharief, Parra urged the youth to actively engage in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, underscoring their pivotal role in shaping democracy. “Your vote is your voice,” he affirmed, encouraging participation to bring about positive change and address youth-centric issues in Kashmir. Parra pledged to effectively represent the concerns of the people at the national level if elected.
During his visit, Parra also paid respects at the revered Ziyarat-e-Sharif Sheikh Ul Aalam (RA) Charar-e-Sharief, symbolizing unity and harmony among the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He prayed for the peace and prosperity of the region, reaffirming the party’s commitment to its well-being.
In the Shopian constituency, Parra received a warm reception at a public meeting, accompanied by the party’s constituency incharge, Yawar Banday. Addressing the crowd, Parra urged voters to prioritize the safety and welfare of Kashmiris alongside tourism development. He emphasized the need to address root causes of unrest, ensure justice, and create a secure environment for all Kashmiris.
The PDP’s campaign underscores its focus on youth engagement and addressing regional aspirations, positioning itself as a party committed to representing the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
